2017 National U15 Camp

The Little Athletics Australia 2017 National U15 Camp will be held again at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra from Sunday 1st October until Wednesday 4th October 2017.

This will be the sixth LAA National Talent Camp which has become a premier event on the Jetstar Little Athletics Calendar.

The live-in camp provides athletes with the opportunity to improve their athletic skills; increase their knowledge in a range of areas and socialise with athletes from all over Australia.

There will be nearly 100 elite athletes attending the camp who represent each of the 7 state associations; all athletes have achieved the national qualification standard.

Some of the best elite coaches in the country have been assembled which includes the following Joshn Robinson (Javelin), Kim Mulhall (Discus), Richard Huggins & Ian Hatfield (Middle Distance), John Minns (Shot Put), Leigh Bennett (Hurdles), Simon Baker (Walks), Alex Beck (400m), Melissa Breen (Sprints).

The camp also provides an opportunity for athlete managers from each state who travel with the athletes to learn and work alongside Australia’s elite coaches in their chosen event. Each team manager will have the chance to increase their knowledge and expertise in their chosen event to take back home and implement in their own coaching sessions.

Athletes will be involved in various workshops where they will learn about strength and conditioning, stretching, self-massage and injury prevention, recovery (including hot and cold pool recovery), leadership and sports psychology. Athletes will also get the opportunity to meet some senior elite athletes who will talk about their time in Little Athletics, pathways through to seniors and what it takes to become a top elite athlete.

We look forward to seeing all the athletes, team managers and coaches at the AIS at the start of October.
