Jack Riewoldt to be inducted into the Roll Of Excellence

Little Athletics Australia are excited to announce that Jack Riewoldt will be inducted into the LAA Roll of Excellence in the Sportsperson Category.

The Roll of Excellence will be held on 21 October 2017 in the Boardwalk Gallery at Wrest Point Casino, Hobart.

Jack was nominated by Little Athletics Tasmania.

Jack Riewoldt became a professional Australian rules footballer in 2007 and is currently playing for Richmond in the Australian Football League

Jack started Little Athletics in 1999 at Clarence Little Athletics Centre where he continued until 2002.

In 2002 Jack made the Tasmanian Little Athletics U13 State Team who competed at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Adelaide where he achieved a bronze medal in the Shot Put.

 AFL Career:

Jack continued competing in shot put with OVA club in Tasmania before playing junior football for St Virgils College. At the age of 15 he moved to his local club, Clarence, where he debut in the senior side at the age of 15.

Jack progressed into the Tasmanian Football Academy where he represented Tasmania in the under 15’s, under 16’s and under 18’s. He then represented Tasmania in the Tassie Mariners in the TAC Cup won the National Division 2 Championships.

While still 17 he was selected in the Tasmanian Devils VFL team where he had an outstanding season winning the rising star award. November 2006 Jack was selected at number 13 in the National Draft by the Richmond Football Club.

Jack made his debut for Richmond the very next year in the Dreamtime at the G match in front of 90,000 spectators. Jack has played 170 games with the Richmond Football Club and has recently signed a 4 year contract to keep him at the club until the end of 2019.

Other Achievements: 

Ambassador for the Alanna and Madeline Foundation which was founded after the 1996 Port Arthur Massacre.

Co-founder with his cousin Nick of the Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision Foundation with has been set up to support research into Bone Marrow Cancers of which his cousin Maddie passed away from earlier this year.   She was only 26, the same age as Jack.

As part of his role with the Richmond Football Club Jack does many football clinics and school visits and promote not only AFL but sport in general and a healthy lifestyle.
