Lithgow athletes ready to fire at state carnival

The Little Athletics season only kicked off on Friday last week but three of Lithgow’s best track and field athletes will be heading straight into high level competition.

The dynamic trio of Ryan Wells, Tasmyn Davies and Ebony Pender will compete at the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) Athletics Championships on Wednesday and Thursday.

The competition will take place at at Sydney Olympic Park.

Ryan, a year 5 student at Cooerwull Public School, has competed at the state carnival numerous times before.

He said he would be striving to take first place in his events of high jump and long jump.

Tasmyn attends Hampton Public School and will be competing in shot put and discus. She will also be aiming to finish in the top three to land a spot at nationals.

St Patrick’s year 5 student Ebony will be competing at the PSSA level for the first time in high jump.

The 11-year-old has set herself the admirable goal of beating her personal best jump of 1.32 metres.
