Albury and Billabong Little Athletics Centres receive Coles equipment grant

The centres in Albury and Henty are among 316 across Australia to share in over $1.1 million in sports equipment grants over the past 12 months.

New collapsible hurdles have been purchased for the Albury centre, replacing previous equipment which is more than 20 years old.

Albury Little Athletics Centre president Brett Schofield said the $5000 grant will make a big difference to the Border centre and allow it to continue to offer one of its most popular events.

"The new equipment will enable us to continue to run our hurdles program this season and into the future," he said.

Billabong Little Athletics president Becky Chambers hopes the $4600 injection will help boost their centre, particularly throwing events.

"Our equipment has seen better days and the new equipment will invigorate our warm up activities, tiny tots program and throws program," she said.

"The portable discus cage will allow us to run discus properly and safely and the new rubber discuses and shot puts will allow the younger children to practice the correct technique from the start."
