14 Former Little Athletes to Represent Australia

14 Former Little Athletics Athletes, have been selected from a group of 16 athletes to represent Australia at the 2023 Oceania Cup in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.

To be held on the 23-24 June, 2023 will see the fourth edition of the Oceania Cup take place with displays from Australia's best emerging track and field talent against fierce rivals New Zealand, and combined regional teams Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.

The Oceania Cup provides the opportunity for young athletes to attend a World Ranking meet, which serves as a stepping stone in their development as senior athletes. Athletes born in 2001-2003 were selected by Athletics Australia to compete at the Oceania Cup based on their nominations, performances across the senior athletics season and consideration of individual upcoming competition schedules.

Two former Little Athletics Athletes selected in the Australian Team; Jackson Mellor (South East District LAC TAS) and Alice Dixon (Northern Suburbs LAC NSW) will head into Sapian being coached by Little Athletics greatness'. Coles Little Athletics Ambassador Matt Denny and Coles Little Athletics Australia Hall of Fame - Track and Field Inductee Melinda Gainsford-Taylor respectively.

  • Gum Mabor (Bracken Ridge Little Athletics QLD) - Men's Triple Jump
  • Jackson Mellor (South East Districts Little Athletics Centre TAS) - Men's Discus
  • Liam Fairweather (Raymond Terrace Athletics Club NSW) - Men's Long Jump
  • Nicolas Kollias (South Eastern Little Athletics Centre NSW) - Men's High Jump

Women (9)

  • Alexandra Harrison (Coffs Coast Little Athletics NSW) - Women's High Jump
  • Alice Dixon (Northern Suburbs Little Athletics Centre NSW) - Women's 400m
  • Alysha Pearson (Jamison Little Athletics NSW) - Women's Hammer Throw
  • Charlotte Banks (Hornsby District Little Athletics Centre NSW) - Women's 100m and 200m
  • Emma Berg (Swan Hill Little Athletics VIC) - Women's Shot Put
  • Leyla Liakatos (Wagga Wagga Little Athletics Club NSW) - Women's 3000m
  • Lily Mather (UWA Little Athletics Centre WA) - Women's 800m
  • Sally Shorky (Hills District Little Athletics Centre NSW) - Women's Discus
  • Tomysha Clark (Port Hacking Little Athletics Centre NSW) - Women's Long Jump
