Coles Little Athletics National Challenge

Coles Little Athletics Australia is excited to announce our new virtual event, the Coles Little Athletics National Challenge!

The virtual challenge has been developed to recognise those athletes who unfortunately missed out on competing at the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) in 2021 after it was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 threat of community transmission outbreaks resulting in lockdowns and border closures.

Coles Little Athletics Australia President, Andrew Pryor said; “The Coles Little Athletics National Challenge is an exciting new event which will provide those athletes who missed out on competing at this year’s Australian Little Athletics Championships an opportunity to challenge themselves against other athletes across Australia”.

How will it work?

Member Associations will select their State Team of Able Bodied (AB) and Multi Class (MC) U13 and U15 athletes as they would have done if competing at ALAC.

Athletes will be ranked nationally based on their results at their State Championships and State Combined Event Championships (where applicable) or, in the case of Northern Australia (combined NT and NWWA team), their previous Association competition in each of the events that they would have competed in at ALAC.

Events as per ALAC:

  • U13 Able Bodied – 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 80m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles, 1500m Race Walk, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus and Javelin
  • U13 Multi Class – 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus
  • U15 Combined Event Able Bodied – 100m (boys), 200m (girls), 90m Hurdles (girls), 100m Hurdles (boys), 800m, Long Jump, High Jump, Discus (boys), Shot Put (girls) and Javelin.
  • U15 Combined Event Multi Class – 100m, 200m, 400m, Long Jump, Discus (boys) and Shot Put (girls)

Note: Relays have been removed for the conduct of this event.

Coles Little Athletics Australia will keep a live leader board over the next four weeks that will be updated after results have been received following each of the State Championships.

Athletes who are ranked 1, 2 and 3 in each event will receive awards for their achievements.

Rankings are for information and entertainment purposes only and are not intended to be taken as actual placings from a National Championships event. All results have been achieved in different States/Territories on different dates and under different competition conditions.

Further information will be provided by the Member Organisations regarding recognition of their athletes and the team selection process.
