The Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships – ALAC, is an annual National Championships, which is the pinnacle event for Little Athletics.
All Member Associations across Australia participate and send Teams to compete in the various age groups.
ALAC has an overarching Teams element to the event, with Teams experience being an important and fundamental aspect and point of difference with other events. The extent of the Teams element varies according to the rules and regulations that are applicable to the various age groups.
Athletes compete for individual rewards; however, their performances contribute towards the Team awards and Trophies that are on offer, which is the major difference and focus of ALAC.
Featuring Team activities, Opening and Closing Ceremonies with Teams Marching, Team Chants, the athletic competition along with social interactions, ALAC provides athletes and their families with an outstanding experience. ALAC has a wonderful history dating back to 1973 and has provided memories for many athletes and continues to grow and develop.
The 2024 Coles Little Athletics Championships – ALAC are to be held on Friday 26th - Sunday 28th April 2024 at SA Athletics Stadium, Adelaide, South Australia.
Friday 26th April: Track Familiarisation and Teams Welcome – 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Saturday 27th April: Opening Ceremony from 8.30am, Competition – 9.30am - 5.30pm
Sunday 28th April: Competition – 9.00am - 4.30pm, Closing Ceremony - 4.45pm - 5.30pm
In 2024 the following age groups will be competing:
The selection process is managed by the Member Association, according to the selection criteria. The Member Association – MA, communicates directly with the athlete, with the entry process managed by the MA.
| U13 athletes – 16 events: | 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 1500m Walk, 80m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, 4 x 100m Relay, Swedish Medley Relay (100m,300m,200m,400m) |
| U13 Multi-Class athletes – 8 events: | 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin. |
| U14 athletes – 14 events: | 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 1500m Walk, 80m/90m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin. |
| U14 Multi-Class athletes – 8 events: | 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin. |
| U15 athletes – 14 events: | 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 1500m Walk, 90m/100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin. |
| U15 Multi-Class athletes – 8 events: | 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin. |
In all Track & Field events, including Multi-Class, there is a maximum of 2 athletes per gender, per Member Association.
All athletes can compete in a maximum of 6 events.
| U15 Boys – 7 events: | 100m, 100m Hurdles, 800m, High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Javelin. |
| U15 Girls - 7 events: | 200m, 90m Hurdles, 800m, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Javelin. |
In the Combined Events, there is a maximum of 1 athlete per gender, per Member Association.
U15 Athletes cannot compete in both the Track & Field and Combined Events Championships.

Announced in the lead-up to the 2024 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships, the partnership between Australian Little Athletics and RAW C will fund seven brand-new scholarships.
RAW C – All-Natural Premium Coconut Water, will be sponsoring 7 brand-new scholarships. The RAW C Little Athlete Scholarships for the 2024 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships will assist Little Athletes who are experiencing financial hardship with travel expenses when attending the 2024 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships in Adelaide from 26-28 April 2024.
The Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund (SESF) will independently administer the RAW C – All Natural Premium Coconut Water Little Athlete Scholarships. To view the application process, click on the button below:
