Job Advertisement: Project Officer - Inclusion

Little Athletics is a fun, social, active and inclusive program for girls and boys aged 5 to 15. The program teaches a wide range of skills in events from running, jumping and throwing.

This is a 2-year full-time fixed term position however employment conditions in terms of hours/days per week and work location will be flexible for the right candidate.

You will be instrumental in helping us to achieve our purpose to develop children of all abilities by promoting positive attitudes and a healthy lifestyle through family and community involvement in athletic activities.

Working with the Inclusion Program Manager and Little Athletics (LA) you will support the development of resources and supporting initiatives focused on improving competitive experiences for children with a disability in the sport, in addition to various other project-based tasks.

This role will also provide support to member associations on the roll out of inclusion initiatives and strategies. Some occasional regional and interstate travel will be required, including overnight stays.

 

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, change management or related field and/or significant experience in developing innovative inclusion initiatives and implementing inclusion strategies within a sporting context
  • Prior experience in managing and delivering diversity and inclusion objectives
  • Demonstrable experience in successfully managing projects in particular funded roles including requisite reporting and acquittal
  • Outstanding verbal communication and influencing skills with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Experience in the preparation of well-structured training programmes, proposals and business documents.
  • The ability to deliver training and education sessions to various stakeholder groups
  • Experience in navigating complex and diverse stakeholder environments to achieve shared outcomes and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Who Interacts positively with others and contributes to and assists others to be successful.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, implement, maintain and grow community partnerships to provide opportunities for inclusive participation
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage complex tasks, balance job requirements, meet regulatory or legislative obligations whilst managing stakeholder expectations

It would be great if you also had:

  • Knowledge of NDIS and associated care plans
  • Knowledge of athletics or the sport industry, in particular Paralympic sport and more specifically sport for para-athletes, including existing knowledge of the disability classification process and system
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Knowledge of the disability industry

 

Your ability to multitask and prioritise activities while producing quality work will be highly regarded as will your ability to hit the ground running and quickly assimilate into the broader team.  You will require a current police and working with children check (or state equivalent) or be willing to obtain both prior to the commencement of employment.
